BJSM members are a very closely knit community. We don’t want to miss out on any opportunity to celebrate our rich culture and festivities. Whilst there are numerous festivals that we celebrate in small groups, the ever-growing strong community members do get opportunities to come together during a few mega events during the year.
Holi marks the begining of autumn in Australia. It happens to be a perfect occasion for the community to come together and enjoy the bright colours, sumptuous feast, and music with some amount of wet colour sparying and bid goodbye to the scorching summer heat
July is peak winter time in Asutralia and there is no better way to enjoy the sun and company of fellow community members while enjoying the signature dish of Bihar & Jharkhand.
Married Hindu women in Bihar and Jharkhand celebrate Teej by observing a day-long nirjala vrat (fasting without water) and praying for the long and prosperous lives of their husbands. It commemorates the union of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati.
Also known as Jitiya, it is observed for the well being of the sons by mothers in North India, especially in Bihar & Jharkhand.
The festival of light doesn’t need any introduction. Its one grand occasion full of fun, music, dance, and food that no BJSM member wants to miss. It is generally organised a week before the actual festival date.
Lord Surya is worshipped during four days of festivities, which include Arghya offering on the last 2 days. Community members have been blessed to have an opportunity to be part of the Chatth pooja at several BJSM family devotee's residences.
